Admissions and Tuition

WhatCollege enrols eager, curious and motivated students from all corners of the world. Our admissions process is holistic, inclusive and personalized. While school grades matter, we also evaluate each student's interests, goals and aspirations and consider how they could make a positive impact at a modern, international high school.

Our Admissions Process

The WhatCollege admissions process is designed to let us get to know you, your strengths and your motivation for studying at a high school in the USA or Canada. It's a very personal, uncomplicated process and we accept applications on a rolling basis.

Your local Admissions Consultant will invite you to an in-person or online consultation – so you can get to know us and we can get to know you.

Start your application

Choose the High School you are applying to, your academic program and residence preferences, and provide us with essential documents, including:
  • A personal statement
  • Official transcripts from the last two years
  • Scan of your passport

This is your chance to tell us about your interests and ambitions, academic commitment and motivation for attending High School in the USA or Canada.

After making a holistic assessment of your application, you will receive an acceptance decision from your chosen high school. Successful applicants will receive an acceptance pack and our Admissions Consultants will help you finalise and documentation closer to departure, including obtaining your visa.

We will keep you informed in the months leading up to departure and invite you to a Pre-Departure Meeting so both students and parents are ready for this new adventure. Pack your bags!

Admission Prerequisites

We look for open-minded students who are committed to excelling academically, excited to explore their new surroundings and prepared to broaden their horizons abroad. Our application process considers more than just grades and we have some prerequisites to ensure your success at high school in North America.

  • Academics
We expect students to have completed the grade requirements that correspond to their age in their home country prior to the start of their program at high school in the USA or Canada, so they are fully prepared to progress in their studies.

  • Motivation
We seek students who are ready to make the most of the study abroad experience by engaging in the school community with a full heart, the best intentions and an open mind.

  • English level
English is the academic language used at all of our partner institutions. Whilst we don’t expect total fluency, we do expect students to demonstrate the following English proficiency per program:

    • US High School Diploma: IELTS 4.5 or 41/100 on the EFSET
    • US High School Diploma + IB Courses: IELTS 5.5 or 46/100 on the EFSET
    • IB Diploma: IELTS 5.5 or 51/100 on the EFSET.

Visa Support

Most students will need to secure a student visa to study at a US or Canadian high school. Our Admissions Consultants maintain strong relationships with visa compliance officers at each school. Together, they support families through the process by explaining the visa procedures, what information they need to submit, guiding them through interview preparation and answering any questions they have along the way.
